The Bush by AG

In my backyard I have a bush
the branches look like they are weeping.
But that is fake, I go there while
my parents are in bed, still sleeping

And when I get there, I watch out
for there are branches all around.
Though yes, I know, it's simply dawn,
the birds don't make a single sound.

For half an hour I am the queen
of all the trees and bushes near my hours.
Deep down I know I love this bush,
but I'll be quiet as a mouse.

Nobody knows about this place.
And when they find out, they will be hushed.
I cannot spread my special thing,
it is none other than my bush.

Water by CM

I was on boat,
In a lake,
Waves lapping at the sides.

The sky was gray,
Stormy.

A raging storm was under way.

The waves lapped,
Hungry.

I was far away from shore.

Then there was a white cap,
Then there was water.

Nothing more.

Missing the Phone! by JJ

One afternoon Owen was writing a two-page essay at school when he heard his teacher shriek, “Where is my phone?”

The whole class ran over to the teacher’s desk. Earlier her phone was charging. Now, it was GONE!

Owen was well known for solving mysteries. He went out of the classroom and to his locker. He opened his backpack, pulled out his notebook, magnifying glass, and his scotch tape. Then Owen walked back into his classroom and put some tape on the charger and quickly pulled it off. He recognized the fingerprint but couldn’t remember whose it was. He quickly filed through the pictures of fingerprints he had taken. The one he had found belonged to the principal! Owen told the teacher this.

“It can’t be!” she said while shaking her head.

“It has to be,” said Owen. Owen was rarely wrong. Even the teacher knew this. The teacher dialed the police and they came. The police accompanied by Owen, walked to the principal’s office and opened the door.

“Hello there,” said Chief David. The principal quickly looked up. You could see fear in his eyes. “Open your desk,” the Chief said calmly.

The principal slowly slid open his desk and revealed a smartphone. “You are under arrest,” said Chief David. The police officers took the principal away and Owen took the phone to his teacher. Everyone congratulated Owen when he arrived.

“You did it!” exclaimed the teacher.

Owen smiled. “I guess I did,” he said.

Directions #6

  1. Get a blank square of paper, then, lay it down so one point is facing to you  and one point is facing away from you. (If you don’t have any square papers, get a rectangle paper and fold one corner down to the bottom of the paper.  Then cut along the line where the fold meets the unfolded paper. This will make a square.)
  2. Fold your piece of paper in half. Your paper should look like a triangle.
  3. Fold your triangle in half, so it looks like a smaller triangle.
  4. Unfold the triangle so one of the halves is about a centimeter away from the other side of the triangle. Crease it.
  5. Flip over your paper and repeat step 4 on the other half.
  6. Straighten out the halves so they are level with each other. Your finished project should look like a bird.

Directions #5

1. Make accordion folds from top to bottom (Try to make them small and even) (make          2 folded shapes)

2. Take one folded shape and apply a small amount of glue on the top middle part.

3. Take the other folded shape and press it on top of the first one, pinch them together in the middle for the glue to set

4. You finished with the wings, so it’s time to move on to the body. You can either cut a small piece of yarn and wrap it around and tie in the middle.

5. Spread the folds a bit, so the wings look big and wide 4.

Directions #4

Start white side up and the paper in landscape position.

Fold the paper in half to the left.

Unfold.

Fold the left and right edges to the central fold.

Flip the paper over, left to right.

Fold the right edge to the central fold, letting the flap underneath flip out to the right.

Neatly fold it to the center. You can see the folds you should have.

Repeat on the left side.

Fold the right flap over to the left.

Fold the flap to the vertical fold to the crease that is in the middle.

Unfold the last step.

  1. Fold the top right and bottom right corners inward slightly so then it touches the first crease.
  2. Fold the top left and bottom left corners of the front flap, inwards. Fold the left side of the flap over to the right.
  3. Again, fold the two left flaps over to the 3rd crease, then fold that over the right flaps, sandwiching the right flaps.
  4. Now fold the left edge to the central fold, letting the flap underneath flip out to the left.
  5. Neatly fold it to the center. You can see the folds you should have.
  6. Repeat on the left side.
  7. Fold the left flap over to the right.
  8. Fold the flap to the vertical fold to the crease that is in the middle.
  9. Unfold the last step.
  10. Fold the top left and bottom left corners inwards slightly so then it touches the first crease.
  11. Fold the top right and bottom rightt corners of the front flap, inwards. Fold the right side of the flap over to the left.
  12. Again, fold the two right flaps over to the 3rd crease, then fold that over the left flaps, sandwiching the left flaps.
  13. Open out the left and right sides.
  14. Push the pointed corners inward.
  15. To straighten out the edges, fold along the bottom edges.
  16. Pinch the corners to make it more "squared"
